It's June, 31st.. the eve of our harvest festival celebration, The Gawai Dayak Day. Everyone was rushing here and there to do their last minute shopping. Many were unlucky since the ATMs were all out of money!..Hahahaha.... Me included! So, I decided to carry my camera and took some shots. Here they are. Hope you enjoy them.

RUSHING JUST TO GET THESE SHOTS!

It's 30th May. Another 2 more days to Gawai Dayak. We have just completed our house renovation. My wife and I rushed to Pasar Serian to do some last minute shopping only to find massive traffic jams! My goodness...I hv never seen our little town to be so jammed up like that. After taking my "not so nice" lunch, I rushed home to see my parents at our kampung and to see the rehersal of our Kumang Gawai 2009 which would be held on the night of 31st May. I was delighted to see so many things to shoot. Below are some of the images captured.

MY SHOTS DURING OUR TEACHERS DAY

Today we celebrated our school level teachers day. Everything went quite smoothly but check out what I got from my students! Hahahaha... Rice wine, artificial flower and cans of beer! Hahaha...

Now..this is something new. A friend of mine got this from her student as a teachers day gift! A chicken!

I also managed to take other shots. Below are some of them.

TODAY'S SHOTS

I arrived at school quite early this morning and I couldn't resist to take these shots. These images have appeared in a local forum called Photo Malaysia. It's a forum mainly about photography. Btw, thanks PM for the help. For those who are interested to jump into photography, I suggest you to join Photo Malaysia. You can click this link : http://www.photomalaysia.com/ to go there or simply click the link that I have added on the left side of this page.

MACRO...AS THEY ALL CALLED IT..

SELAMAT HARI GAWAI

School holidays will be here soon and the Gawai Dayak festival too.. The year 2009 is already half way through. I am getting older... sighhh....
Anyway...with this great opportunity, CB would like to wish all the Dayaks "Selamat Hari Gawai". Enjoy the festival, have fun with your friends and families but please do take care of yourselves. Plan your journey back to your longhouses and homes so that you will reach your destinations safely. Doulble-checked and make sure everything is okay before you leave you house to start your journey. Drive safely for those who are driving.

I am not going anywhere this year since my house is just about 30 minutes from my kampung (village). I will be off on the 31st May to attend our Gawai dinner at our kampung and also will do the coverage of our Gawai Dayak programmes starting from the 1st day of Gawai. Hopefully, I will be able to do all that and share the moments with everyone here in CB.

LASTLY... SELAMAT HARI GAWAI ONCE AGAIN. GAYU GURU GERAI NYAMAI.

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN FLIES MATING?

I was fooling around in my school compound armed with my camera this morning. (That is of course after my class!). As I was passing by the fence, my eyes caught up with something which I finally knew what it was when I looked closer. Well, it was ...err..eerrr a pair of flies! How I wished I was holding a proper macro lense at that time. The image below is what I managed to come up with. I have never seen flies mating before. Do you?

3 SHOTS OF MY BOY

This is Ted, my only boy. He is about 2 years 4 months old. He really loves to pose infront of a camera. He would shout "Take picture! Take picture!" whenever he saw me holding my camera. He is my model.

REFLECTION

My type of lense might not be suitable to take this kind of shot (AF70-300mm Tamron lense) but this piece is quite unique for me. I just couldn't ignore taking the shot. Enjoy it and try to figure out which image is the real reflection. Btw...this lady is cute too. Dont you think?

ANOTHER TYPE OF BEAUTY, DON'T YOU THINK?

This piece was taken last year (2008) during our Gawai Festival. Pretty, eh? She was the Kumang! Eerrr....sorry, I don't have her phone number!

ONE HELL OF A GUY!

I started some searches in the net on the subject of photography just now and I came accross a site own by a guy by the name of David Chua. I browsed the site and read a liitle about him. Well, I am not ashamed to admit that I like the guy already! Know why? I was a bit surprised to know that I share some same views about photography with the guy. I am always having a view that a picture or photo should be "original" and not edited by whatever softwares that we have nowadays just to make it "perfect". I just want it to be simple and not "too much" of everything. Just like David Chua, I also hate choreographed shots. They are too perfect that most of the time I found them "empty" and got no "souls".

You can check David's site here : http://www.davidchuaphotography.com/ or by clicking on the link on the left side of this page.

MY 1ST FEW PHOTOS

Everything gotta have a start. So, this is my 1st group of photos. These photos have been on my other blog called BidayuhGenerasiBaru which is not a blog on photography. Since I do not want to mix everything there, I have decided to set up another blog for this particular interest of mine. I do hope that you will enjoy looking at these photos. I am currently using a canon EOS 400D Digital SLR with Tamron 300mm lenses. It might not be a good camera to be used in serious photography but hey..I love what I did with it. These photos were taken around my school compound. Know what? Have a look around you. You wll be surprised by what you see if you look closely.
